  • Palace of Versailles, Museum in Versailles, France

The Palace of Versailles or simply Versailles, is a royal château in Versailles in the Île-de-France region of France. In French it is the Château de Versailles. It is a wealthy suburb of Paris, some 20 kilometres southwest of the French capital. The court of Versailles was the centre of political power in France from 1682, when Louis XIV moved from Paris, until the royal family was forced to return to the capital in October 1789 after the beginning of the French Revolution. Versailles is therefore famous not only as a building, but as a symbol of the system of absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime. In the 19th century the Museum of the History of France was founded in Versailles, at the behest of Louis-Philippe I, who ascended to the throne in 1830. Many of the palace's rooms were taken ...

Today we're going to be going behind the scenes. Here we are in the nave of the Chapel Saint Louis inside the palace and as you see, we get to go in the nave, which is not the case for most people. I love being a tour guide and specifically on the Prestige Tour, because I get to open the doors that we're not supposed to open. We are in the bathroom of Marie Antoinette. How come there's a bed in the bathroom? For the reason that in those days, doctors would say that taking a bath would weaken your body, so after taking a bath, you had to lie down. Now we arrive behind Marie Antoinette's bedroom. So Marie Antoinette fled through here, going from her bedroom to the Salon of the Bull's Eyes, and to the king's bedroom when the palace was attacked. Louis XV was very well known for having many, many mistresses, but Madame de Pompadour is the main one. She was treated like she was a queen, even though she wasn't, and that's why she was hated. Here we are in front of the Petit Trianon. The Petit Trianon is Marie Antoinette's estate. Queen Marie Antoinette used to say that when she was at Trianon, she was not the Queen, but she was herself. This is the hamlet. The idea was to recreate a village of Normandy. It had to look very natural. Man: We got into the background. That was just amazing. That's what makes it VIP, very special. I would give the tour a 10 out of 5.

This former home of French kings epitomizes royal elegance in the style of Old Europe. Versailles originated in 1631 as a humble hunting lodge for Louis XIII. But his son Louis XIV built the now familiar palace on the site outside Paris and moved the nation’s government and court to Versailles in 1682. Versailles remained the epicenter of French royal power, home to government offices and courtiers alike, until 1789—when a hungry and agitated group of mostly female revolutionaries stormed the palace and essentially evicted Louis XVI and his queen, Marie-Antoinette. The mob sent the royal couple back to Paris on the first steps of a journey that led eventually to their beheadings. Versailles’ sprawling, stunning palace is matched by the splendor of the gardens in which it is situated. A pleasurable visit can be spent simply perusing paths and admiring fountains and flowers without setting foot inside the palace or Versailles’ other notable buildings. Marie-Antoinette enjoyed these grounds so much that she created her own private estate here, a collection of rural homes and buildings laid out along the lines of a Norman village. The queen sought privacy and escaped the pomp and hubbub of the palace court at her hamlet, which now draws crowds in its own right. The queen’s estate even operated as a working farm where peasants and livestock produced fresh product for the tables of the grand palace. The 17th-century Grand Trianon, an incredible array of pink marble buildings and enchanting gardens, was another integral part of life at Versailles during the reign of Louis XIV and beyond. In later years Napoleon Bonaparte often stayed in the elegant but intimate palace, and Charles de Gaulle converted its northern wing into an official presidential residence, which still hosts guests of France’s head of state. The Palace of Versailles offers visitors a chance to walk in the footsteps of royalty and visit intimate chambers, including the king’s grand apartments. But perhaps the most famous room at Versailles is the Grande Galerie, or the Hall of Mirrors, which was once haunted by courtiers playing politics or awaiting an audience with the monarch. This same room later witnessed one of the defining moments of 20th-century European history when the Treaty of Versailles, ending the First World War, was signed within its walls in June 1919. Beginning in the 19th century, portions of the magnificent palace were put to work for the French public as the home of the Museum of the History of France. And while the monarchs are long gone today, Versailles still plays a role in the nation’s governance—the palace regularly hosts joint sessions of the French legislature.

Many of the palace's rooms were taken over to house the new collections and the large Galerie des Batailles (Hall of the Battles) was created to display paintings and sculptures depicting milestones battles of French history. The collections display painted, sculpted, drawn and engraved images illustrating events or personalities of the history of France since its inception. The museum occupies the lateral wings of the Palace. Most of the paintings date back to the 19th century and have been created specially for the museum by major painters of the time such as Delacroix, Horace Vernet or François Gérardbut there are also much older artworks which retrace French History. Notably the museum displays works by Philippe de Champaigne, Pierre Mignard, Laurent de La Hyre, Charles Le Brun,Adam Frans van der Meulen, Nicolas de Largillière, Hyacinthe Rigaud, Jean Antoine Houdon, Jean Marc Nattier, Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun, Hubert Robert, Thomas Lawrence, Jacques Louis David,Antoine Jean Gros and also Pierre Auguste Renoir. Prof Banerjee and Sh Pruseth etc. visited the museum on 29th January 2013.

A Real Palace: Versailles If you think that I grew up in the palaces with dad, this excellent castle should have been your hot spot. The construction of this building, where the palace is in place, was started in 1661. This magnificent structure challenging Tarihe is used today as a museum, but at the beginning XIII. It was built by Louis as a small hunting lodge. Today, this castle, which still preserves the title of the biggest palace in Europe, is settled in an area exceeding 6 hectares. This palace with 2300 rooms is libating with numbers. There are no Toilets in this Palace: Versailles Versailles Palace is the result of French baroque architecture and is regarded as the head of the classical style. The history of the palace literally summarizes the French History. It is a little hard to believe, but the toilet and bathroom were not considered when the palace was built. At that time, the toilets and bathrooms were seen as an unnecessary space in the palace, as the Asylum had their needs removed where they wanted. A rumor is that in Europe, the perfume of Versailles Palace is unique from all the palaces in Europe. So much so that the servants do not have periodic rumors about their clothes being wrapped up by this smell. Fortunately, until the year 1768, there were no toilets in the palace. Of course, these nine toilet rooms were only valid for the noble king and dynasty. Although this number is less when we consider the size of the palace, it is useful to look at this as a relatively good start. The Miracle of Light Miranda Salonda: Versailles The interior of the gallery made by Le Brun mirrored the sarcophagus with a soft baroque and the gallery was covered with green marble. This hall also hosted the treaty signed between the defeated Germany and its allies at the end of the First World War. At the same time, there are many paintings and works of art in the palace, some of which serve as history museums. Versailles, one of the most successful examples of the period, did not boil down into the building as a chapel structure. The oval half oval plan chapel comes from the gallery of light mirrors and the window of calicheestories. Spectacular Gardens of the Palace: Versailles One of the most important features of the Palace of Versailles is the magnitude of its unique beauty garden. The garden is divided into cafes and areas to visit within. There is also a large pond in the garden, which attracts attention with its landscaping. It is common sense that the garden, which corresponds to the palace's back ceiling, is also a key for city planning. In addition, there are parallel paths between the trees in the garden of the palace, separate flowers and water gardens, stairs and kiosks bordered by pruned greenery in the same direction. We will give the garden a right to say a separate complex within itself. These items, which make up the entire landscape, are arranged according to a tremendous geometric scheme. Versailles Palace is home to thousands of curious tourists every year because its interior architecture is unique in terms of gardening, and visitors are amazed by the visitors.

Sometimes at Versailles you feel swept away with the crowds it's important that you step back and try to look closely at the interesting paintings and objects, I'm lucky to say I have visited Versailles many times. From experience I'd say visit once with your camera take as many pictures as you'd ever want, next visit with no camera and simply soak up the history take your time and switch of from the crowds.

http://tourvideos.com/ Paris Louvre and Versailles: Walking to the Louvre in Paris we pass through the Palais Royale gardens and Galleries Vivien. We suggest starting a Louvre visit with the Italian sculptures, including Michelangelo and Canova on the ground floor of the Denon Wing. Then go upstairs to the large French paintings by David, Gericault and Delacroix. From here, enter the Grand Gallery with paintings of the Italian Renaissance, including Mona herself. Walk in along one wall and out along the opposite wall. And then you will find yourself at the Winged Victory, and then around the corner to the crown jewels in the Apollo Hall, with its elaborate walls and ceiling. Now go downstairs to classical Rome and Greece, veering into the Room of the Caryatids, and back across the hall to see fragments from the Parthenon, with a vision of perfect female beauty, the Venus of Milo, at the end of the gallery. Descend the stairs behind Venus and confront a dilemma: go left for the medieval foundations and the second half of the museum... Now you are in perfect position to get to the Palace of Versailles by train. The station is right under your nose in front of the Orsay. Enter the metro station and take the RER to the end of the line at Versailles Rive Gauche. Round trip is only $5, and the palace admission is about $10, so you are saving big-time compared to buying a $65 bus tour to get to Versailles. Nothing could be easier than the 40 minute train ride, followed by a 15 minute walk to the palace.

Top fashion designers often incorporate elements reminiscent of the lavish 18th century gowns and costumes worn by royals. In fact, sometimes it's hard to tell whether a garment is old or new. An exhibition in Versailles concludes that ceremonial dresses are actually more about art than fashion.
